How we use and protect your health information

Tropical Texas Behavioral Health is committed to protecting the privacy of your health information. This Notice of Privacy Practices describes how we may use and disclose your protected health information (PHI) and how you can access this information.

Our Responsibilities

TTBH is required by law to maintain the privacy of your protected health information, provide you with this Notice of our legal duties and privacy practices, and follow the terms of the Notice currently in effect.

How We May Use and Disclose Your Health Information

  • Treatment We may use and disclose your PHI to provide, coordinate, or manage your healthcare and related services.
  • Payment We may use and disclose your PHI so that we may bill and receive payment for the services provided to you.
  • Healthcare Operations We may use and disclose your PHI to support our business activities including quality assessment, training, licensing, and accreditation activities.
  • As Required by Law We will disclose your PHI when required to do so by federal, state, or local law.
  • Public Health Activities We may disclose your PHI for public health activities such as preventing or controlling disease.

Your Rights Regarding Your Health Information

  • Right to Inspect and Copy You have the right to inspect and copy your health information.
  • Right to Amend You have the right to request an amendment to your health information.
  • Right to an Accounting of Disclosures You have the right to request a list of disclosures of your PHI made by TTBH.
  • Right to Request Restrictions You have the right to request a restriction on the use or disclosure of your PHI.
  • Right to a Copy of This Notice You have the right to a paper copy of this Notice.

Your Right to Make a Complaint

The complaint process is outlined in policy SS1-07.06.

You have the right to make a complaint and to be informed of whom to call for help. You have the right to make a complaint without any form of retaliation. If you believe any of your rights have been violated or have other questions, concerns, or complaints about your rights or your care, you may contact one or more of the following:
