Mindscape: Behavioral Health Today Conference

Mindscape Behavioral Health Today LogoAt the Mindscape: Behavioral Health Today Conference, Tropical Texas Behavioral Health sets out to provide a one day learning opportunity for professionals in the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding area to hear the latest in behavioral health and integrated primary care. Our Keynote speaker, Tonier Cain, is a leading advocate for trauma-informed care in mental health facilities and the prison system. She is the former team leader for the national Center for Trauma-Informed Care with the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors as well as a consumer advocate that speaks all over the world on trauma, incarceration, and recovery.   “Her experience illustrates the consequences that untreated trauma has on individuals and society at large, including mental health problems, addiction, homelessness and incarceration.”  Excerpt from www.toniercain.com

Ms. Cain will be followed by Dr. Janis Tondora, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Yale University School of Medicine.  Dr. Tondora will discuss Person Centered Care: A Critical Ingredient in Healing.  For the first time, TTBH will have a “Trauma of Victimization/Bullying Institute” coordinated by Dr. Ricardo Irizarry.  The Institute will include survey results from local middle school and high school students.  It will be a day packed full of learning!
